👀In this video, we'll explain how to configure Reshade on Linux, as well as
install and activate the famous basic presets that can be created to
automate adjustments, such as in the game Dead By Daylight, the famous
DBD!
In Reshade,
we can define keyboard shortcuts to activate or deactivate Reshade,
as well as load and switch presets created for games such as DBD and
others!
When you install Reshade, it comes with
zero configurations; you won't be able to apply or modify filters in your
game! Reshade requires initial configuration to function. Linux is no
different!
And for those who wish to download and
install the famous basic presets created by users for DBD, the .ini files
must be configured and loaded so that Reshade can finally work, applying the
post-processing we want!
For the famous DBD game Dead By Daylight,
we have several independent Reshade presets, one for each map in the game,
or a preset for a specific group of maps that are similar in general graphic
characteristics! For games like DBD with many different maps with very
distinct environments from each other, it's practically impossible to have a
perfect preset for all of them! You have to load the most suitable preset
for the map when it appears, dynamically adjusting luminance, shadows,
contrast, brightness, and color gamut. For DBD, we have the element of
surprise of randomly loaded maps; the user only finds out which map they
will play on when the session loads! Unless they are forced with offerings!
But that's not always the case!
So in Reshade, we can load several preset
files already pre-configured for specific map conditions—lighter, darker, or
neutral! Thus, when we activate the presets in Reshade, the map will have
its post-processing adjusted in a way that is more appropriate for its
environment!
We can define a key on the keyboard to
navigate between presets and change them easily in a matter of seconds! We
can also turn Reshade on and off for conditions where GPU FPS is a higher
priority than Reshade post-processing, and then turn it back on when it's
most needed!
After installing Reshade for Linux in the
desired Steam game, the Reshade message will be displayed when you start the
game. Usually, pressing the HOME key on the keyboard will display the
Reshade menu!
Accessing the Settings tab, we can
configure all the necessary keyboard shortcuts to navigate between Presets,
turn Reshade on or off, among other options!
In the
Reshade Home tab, we can load the various game Presets we want – the famous .ini files already with the Reshade settings
pre-defined! In the case of DBD, we have several .INI files, one for each
type of map, to provide better graphic processing for the various darker,
lighter, or neutral environments!
We will leave here the availability to
download these Reshade Presets for the game Dead By Daylight, but those who wish can create their own different Presets with other
settings!
Although the Linux version of Reshade is
exclusive, the .INI files of the Presets work for both Reshade Linux and
Reshade for Windows!
Just download them, choose a folder to
place them in, and then load the files as we instructed in the video, so
that Reshade can automatically adjust the post-processing!
👉 Although we showed Reshade being
configured in the game DBD, any other Steam game can have Reshade installed
and configured in the same way!
It's just not universal, meaning for each
game you will have to install the Reshade script, configure it, and load the
Preset .INI files for each game!
💬And when you need to update Reshade to new
versions, you will have to run the script again one by one for each game as
well, so that Reshade always downloads and updates automatically.
Although it doesn't have a universal
version with automatic global updates, Reshade for Linux is an incredible
tool that at least allows us to have the same gaming features as Windows,
proving once again that Linux is now a system that can easily replace
Windows!
💬 Remember once again that Reshade consumes
GPU resources, and depending on the chosen preset and the filters being
processed, the game's FPS may drop slightly! The FPS can be reduced by up to
15 FPS depending on your video card, GPU, and of course, the filters being
processed!
That's why you can temporarily turn off
Reshade with the F5 key (in the case that we have already configured for
this function) to gain temporary FPS and turn Reshade back on with F5 when
you need more graphical accuracy.
Reshade makes all the difference for
playing better without resorting to cheat codes, cheats, and other illegal
maneuvers!
